The Analects Book Description
Approximately 500 years B.C. the wise and revered Chinese teacher, Confucius (or K'ung Futse) uttered these simple truths about nearly every aspect of life. Taken individually, they are merely simple stories and aphorisms. Taken as a whole, they serve to impart a way of living that has influenced Chinese society for centuries, and their influence continues today in both the East and the West.
Confucius has contributed to The Analects as an author.
<P>Burton Watson has taught at Columbia, Stanford, and Kyoto Universities and is one of the world's best-known translators of Chinese and Japanese works. His translations include <I>The Tales of the Heike</I>; <I>The Lotus Sutra</I>; the writings of Zhuangzi, Mozi, Xunzi, and Han Feizi; <I>The Columbia Book of Chinese Poetry</I>; and <I>Records of the Grand Historian</I>.</P>
