I must confess that having watched Munnabhai M.B.B.S., I simply could not resist watching this sequel "Lage Raho Munnabha". Frankly, this movie is a perfect continuation of the humour, slap-stick and wit that was an essential ingredient of the first one. It will certainly go down as one of the best made comedy movies from Bollywood in recent years.
This movie comes nearly three years after the lovable duo Munnabhai and his sidekick Circuit made the audience guffaw with their absolute levels of absurdity and drollness in Munnabhai MBBS. The taporis are back again with their antics and humorous street lingo, this time confronted by Mahatma Gandhi and his ideology in an extraordinary manner.
Sanjay Dutt excels once again as a feisty goon playing the role of a Good Samaritan at times. Arshad Warsi once more lives up to the expectations as Munnabhai's constant friend and goon-in-companionship. He deftly displays his abilities as an excellent comedian and a seasoned actor.
I especially liked how Munnabhai is depicted as desperately smitten by RJ Jhanvi while flourishing in his 'dadagiri'business. Circuit brilliantly executes his role as a goon evicting people from their properties. It was nice to see how Gandhiji's image appears (played by Dilip Prabhavalkar) to guide Munnabhai to ultimately win over his foes. This film excellently portrays Gandhji’s ideology of empathy and nonviolence to a post-Gandhian world.
The other characters in the film simply play their best roles. Boman Irani as rogue builder Lucky Singh effectively displays his talent as a boisterous Punjabi. Jimmy Shergill and Dia Mirza also contribute their best in this film. Hats off to the effective direction by director Rajkumar Hirani who has risen up to the tough task of coming up with a commendable sequel to Munnabhai M.B.B.S. With some excellent musical score by Shantanu Moitra, the film will remain pleasantly etched in the memories of cine goers for a long time to come.
